As you can see from my log of interactions, almost every waking minute is spent using technologies. The only time in my day when I'm not interacting with technology would be when I am either taking my dog for a walk or to the park. It is pretty shocking to see this when it's written down in front of you, however the simplicity that these technologies bring to your life are almost irreplaceable. It's so easy for me to get on my phone and I can almost instantaneously see what is going on around the world in sports, weather, or news. When I am on my laptop studying or doing homework, my time is spent well because I normally put my cell phone on silent so then I won't be distracted. I'm not one of those people who has their facebook or other SNS up in another tab and constantly clicks over every 5 minutes while trying to do something productive but I am tempted to stray away if I overhear something good on the tv.
I had a total of 117 texts sent & received and spent only 31 minutes of the day having conversations on the phone. The people I was communicating with ranged from family, friends, students, and staff. If I were to apply a theory to my interaction with technology it would be several of them including, multitasking, media dependency theory and even the niche theory. I obviously multitask as I am often using several different technologies at once and even communicating on them at the same time. Media dependency theory because certain media technologies have more importance and significance to me such as my phone and the espn app that I use all the time, compared to facebook which I never use so therefore has less importance on my daily routine. The niche theory because I am a supporter of many of those "niche" tv shows and websites, and the other people who are like me and enjoy them are the reason they exist.
